Chair of theory and practice of translation

The Chair is headed by the candidate of philological science, associate professor of LSICA – Nataliya M. Rudnytska.

The Chair trains qualified specialists in «Translation / Interpretation» speciality (the direction of training – philology, license of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine АB № 482312 dated 17.07.2009).

Students of the Chair acquire a good command of two foreign languages (a third language is optional). The chair trains translators from English, French, German and Spanish languages, students become masters of oral and written communication in different spheres: economics, science and culture. They can use contemporary methods of information collection and information processing. The graduates also get the qualification of foreign language teacher.

The lecturers of the chair use innovative teaching methods and technologies, a prоject method, interactive ways of cross – cultural communication, drama – technology in their classes. The students of «Translation» speciality take part in different international programs, successfully participate in All Ukrainian competitions, scientific and practical conferences.

Famous translators and interpreters of Ukraine conduct master – classes with students.

Senior students have pedagogical practice in comprehensive and specialized schools, and practice in translation – in leading organizations, industrial enterprises and commercial ventures of Luhansk city.

The chair is a regular organizer of international and All Ukrainian scientific practical conferences on the problems of cross – cultural communication. The lecturers’ sphere of scientific interests embrace the most topical questions of translation, foreign philology, pedagogies.

There is a Student English club. The members of the club communicate with foreign guests, organize parties in English. The repertoire of student theatre includes such performances as: «Othello: a modern version» (in English), «Riding Hood» («Rotes Kapphen», in German), and others.
